Re: Bentonite Clay
IntelligentBeauty: It's excellent on the face and the feet also. That's the best $7 I've ever spent in my life.

Re: Bentonite Clay
Hey ladies! I just bought Aztec Secret bentonite clay at the Vitamin Shoppe for $7.15. I didn't even really know what I was supposed to use it for but I remember seeing someone on Fotki had used it so I bought it today just based on that. Glad I found this thread though. I will use it soon and let you know about my results!
Re: Bentonite Clay
Ok so I got the Aztec Secret bentonite clay and used it as a facial. It was ok. I like my amla powder better. I felt the clay dried hard too quickly and firmly. Then once I washed it off. It left a film behind and my pores werent clean. When I use the Amla powder, once it is washed off, the skin instantly looks clean and fresh. No extra squeezing of nose and skin is required and no film.
I will try the clay on my hair next.

Re: Bentonite Clay
Hey everyone! I tried the bentonite clay today and it worked great! My hair was soft, clean, curls defined(although that didn't matter because i'm twisting my hair later). I give it two thumbs up. I almost didn't deep condition because after I rinsed it out and co-washed with HEHH I was in heaven! But I did anyway hehe.
Re: Bentonite Clay
Ok curlies you were right. I used the clay along with honey, EVOO, ACV, and water and left it on for 30 minutes. WOW!!!! My hair was happy on the rinse out. Did not need to rinse out with conditioner but I did. And on the face I found it very good as well. I felt it evened out my skin well. And I didnt need anything else afterwards so I will alternate that with Amla powder. Fabulous!!!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
What do I do with left over mixture? It's in the frige right now.

Re: Bentonite Clay
I just bought some at whole foods the other day and came back to this thread to read again what I'm supposed to do. I think I will mix it with EVOO, ACV and water for my 1st try. How much clay do I use though? And do I have to do a DC afterwards?
Re: Bentonite Clay
I couldn't tell you how much because I think I used to much last time. The clay swells so you get more once you add your ACV and water. Yes DC afterwards. But you may not need a leave in

Re: Bentonite Clay
I've been gone for a minute, but glad to be back on the computer, lol
I think when I used Bentonite Clay I added apple cider vinegar and honey (the 1st time) and just honey the 2nd time.....i think. It's been so long that I can quite remember.
Rhassoul clay, on the other hand, I never really had a problem with. The rhassoul (with some coconut milk) left my hair super soft

Where do you get Rhassoul clay?

Ok thanks. I'm gonna do some reading on this clay and see if it's something I want to try. I still need to try the Bentonite. Do you think I should apply the B-clay today after I've had EVCO, EVOO and castor oil sitting on my scalp and ends since yesterday?
Btw, I still stalk your fotki now and then
Re: Bentonite Clay
I bought some bentonite clay this week from Whole Foods, but I'm not sure how I should use it. I don't have to wash or wet my hair first do I? Going to YouTube to watch some videos.

Re: Bentonite Clay
I have some on my hair right now and I used some on my son's face and his hair. When he rinsed in the shower it was hard to get it all out and I had to have him wash his face and cowash to get the rest out of his hair. But OMG his hair was so soft. Mine is still in my hair as I'm starting my dinner. But I'll have it out soon. I can't wait to see how soft my hair will be. I was going to twist with Qhemet Biologists, but now I think this is going to be a wash'n'go week. Back soon with my results...

Thanks for the links! I did watch Curlychronicles video yesterday. I can't wait to see your results!
Re: Bentonite Clay
Ok I think I didn't mix it right. I used an entire can of coconut milk, some of my mixed oils, ACV, and distilled water. It was still lumpy after I let it sit. I applied it generously to my hair and left it for a few hours under a cap. By the time I rinsed it off I had applied to my face and body. Of course, the coconut milk left a slight film every where so I washed my face after rinsing and I took a shower using my fixed shower gel that has really good stuff in it. When I rinsed my hair it did take a while to rinse out. However, my hair felt great! Not stripped with a slight film from the coconut oil. I did a slight cowash afterwards to get the film off. But it wasn't gritty at all which was surprising since my mix was so lumpy.
The only thing that I will have to do next time I still deep condition. I tried my new Qhemet Biologist products the Coco Tree detangler ghee and Honey Bush Tea Soft gel, both of which didn't datangle very well. My curls are defined but I think I'll need to do more for moisture in the coming days.
Overall I really like the bentonite clay. I'll probably use it when I feel like I really need to clarify.

Re: Bentonite Clay
It looks pretty Sister Boyd! I am about to mix mine now. Gonna use the B-clay, filtered water, a dash of ACV and some EVOO. I plan to DC with EVOO and EVCO afterwards unter my heat cap. I'll update later with results and pics.
** Update **
I dit it! My hair felt soft afterwards but I did a DC because it didn't feel super moistureized. I'm satisfied with the results. I plan to do this twice a month til March and see how it goes. I also plan to do the oil DC once a week. I really liked the results of that and I need to target a dry, frizzy area in the back. See my BnB journal for details and pics:

Re: Bentonite Clay
Update...I do feel dry but I don't if its the fact that i didn't DC afterwards of if its the Qhemet Detangler and gel. Yesterday I let my hair get wet in the shower and I spritz'd with the Replenishing Spray and ran some of the Heavy Cream through my curls. It was a bit crunchy, but I had an incredible shine for the rest of the day. This morning when I took my satin bonnet off it was dry.
I'm going to have to look into the oil DC.
Oh my curls are still wonderfully defined and I can't say that I have a lot of frizz either.

Re: Bentonite Clay
Whole Foods has the Aztec brand...
Update...I notice that my hair is super full and thick. Of course my hair has thickened up since my curls have come in, but after the clay treatment my hair is just dense now. I want to cowash and twist, but I'm scared the thickness will leave me ha haha
Also, I didn't DC afterwards and I really should have. I would suggest you should if you have even the slightest issue with dryness.
