coloring natural hair....
Hey everyone! I was thinking of dying my hair at home. I natural have dark dark dark dark brown hair that looks black. I want to dye my hair like blackish blue color. My boyfriend says there is no point because my hair is already "black" but for some reason I keep thinking it will make a difference. Do any of you have suggestion or comments on how it will come out and what the best was is to go about coloring it?

Your hair looks gREAT the way it is...If anything I think going dark dark red would look nice on you. Like crimson

I did blue black once but I didn't really like it. It comes out jet black with a hint of blue. I preferred Jet black minus the blue highlights. Why don't you try a blue black rinse first to see if you like it so if you don't it can be washed away after a couple of washes. If you do then you can get a permanent color. HTH

Just wanted to mention my sister got a jet black. I THINK it might have the blue tint to it. I dont know but it looks great. I actually think go for it if you dotn want the crimson red. I think natural hair sometimes looks a little GREY because it is not straigth and has sheen not shine, so dying it black would really help with that

Hey krys Im way too scurred to go red i just wanted the black so that it could be jet black and hopefully get rid of this dull black that i naturally have.
Re: coloring natural hair....
Its not dull black - its cute. Maybe do a cellophane or rinse just to get the shine that you want.
Re: coloring natural hair....
I definitely suggest playing around with a rinse...they are SO much fun and can have rich color without having a damaging effect.

Oh, I did a rinse earlier in the summer. It definitely gives shine. Anyone know a brand that is natural or with as little silicones and chemicals as possible?
Re: coloring natural hair....
definitely do a rinse. black is the hardest color to get rid of sans cutting or bleaching.

I LOOOOOVE dying my hair black!! I dyed my hair blue black the night of my BC because my new growth is a light brown.. I've dyed it every shade of black too from blue black, jet black, and natural black..my favorite is blue black it seems to be the darkest in my hair (I love my hair to be real real dark!!) but I use Bigen from my rinses..I've been using it for years and never experienced any problems from it
