THIS PROTEIN TREATMENT IS THE TRUTH!
Hi Curlies,
I am so excited that I thought I'd share this with you guys.
After walking around 6 weeks post BC looking like Frizzy McFrizzerston, I did some research on protein treatments. I did protein treatments a lot when I was relaxed because I used to shed hair worse than my dog. Since BC'ing, I had hardly any breakage, but I was frizzy.
Last week, I deep conditioned with Aubrey Organics Glycogen Protein Balancing Condish, and it turned out well, but frizz still remained a bit.
I tried this recipe, which is a recipe that I found at http://www.only1frenchy.com/. She calls it the Yummy Cake Batter Condish. And it is the truth.
3 tbsp full fat vanilla yogurt
1 egg yolk (do not use the egg white)
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp coconut oil (I substituted this for 2 tbsp almond oil)
First, I am unsure of how full fat vanilla yogurt (as opposed to low fat or any other flavor) factors into the fabulousness of this protein treatment, but I did use it. I had an extremely hard time finding full fat yogurt at the grocers. Of about 15 brands, I only found ONE brand (la creme) that was full fat (and it was YUMMY), and the workers and customers were giving me the side eye when I told them I wanted full fat. They immediately looked at me like, "that skinny *%$#" But, I digress.
I cowashed with Suave Coconut and YTC, then I put this on my hair. It was very liquidy, but I used all of it on my 2.5 inch TWA. I covered with a plastic cap, then I banded the sides. It was dripping down my neck, and very sticky, so I folded up paper towels and slid under the band. I couldn't let it sit longer than 30 minutes because it was dripping down my neck. I washed it out, and I really didn't see a difference. I deep conditioned with Aubrey Organics HSR. This morning, I wet my hair and applied Kinky Curly Knot Today and Curling Custard, and OMG, no frizzies! And, EVERY SINGLE CURL was defined like never before.
I'm now a protein advocate...
If anyone else uses it, let me know!!! I'd be interested in hearing other's stories!
