My regimen:

AM: Wash my face with SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Soap, use Neutrogena Toner, and moisturize with Mary Kay moisturizer

PM: Wash with SheaMoisture Soap, apply Mary Kay's night cream, moisturize with Shea Butter mixture(unrefined shea butter, coconut oil, vit e oil)

Once a week, use Mary Kay's microderm abrasion

This regimen has allowed me to stop using foundation because my skin is so clear now! Hope this helps someone

I use the oil cleansing method as well. Currently, I'm using coconut and castor oil and I've had really good results. I have oily acne prone skin and I never imagined that cleaning my skin with oil would help my acne. Since using the ocm, I only get a pimple here and there and my skin is sooo soft. I do the ocm at night and in the morning I wash my face with plain water or I may use a natural oatmeal and aloe vera soap I purchased at the health food store. So far my skin has improved significantly.

Morning:
Wash with black soap or Nasabb's Honey Oatmeal Soap.
Moisturize with my Shea butter mix that I also use in my hair

Night:
Wash with black soap or Nasabb's Honey Oatmeal Soap
Moisturize with grapeseed oil
*I think the Shea butter is a bit heavy at night time for my skin.

I think I am going to make a new toner to incorporate into my regimen. I saw a Green Tea toner on youtube that I made but I think it was too abrasive and harsh on my skin. Might work for someone else though.

My skin isn't perfectly clear but it's like 90% and I think it's because I have my hands on my face A LOT. I often sit with my left hand resting/propped on my left cheek so it has the most bumps and in between my eyebrows does as well.

a.m: cleanse with a neutrogena acne cleanser
tone w/ an alcohol free neutrogena toner. i love this product! i just started using it this week, but it is so not drying and i love the 'clean' smell it has.

p.m: cleanse w/ the same neutrogena cleanser

other: a bottle of water a day (sometimes two). water does wonders for the body, now if only i can cut out the bag of cookies i have for lunch every day.....

um no real 'success' here, my products do what they're supposed too: cleanse and tone. i do want to try black african soap though.

Thanks for the video. I don't have acne but occasional breakouts so I'll definitely try that. My routine consists of the oil cleansing method every other day or so. In between I wash with Aveeno face wash, sometimes use witch hazel for toner, and moisturize with a pea size amount of AVG and 2 drops of EVOO.

To anyone who has tried the method from the video, how did it work or how is it working for you? I'm thinking about trying that method and just want to get feedback from those who have tried it.

Post by JaieBee 2nd August 2010, 11:10 am

I've had trouble with my combination skin every since I was 14. However, for the past three years or so the regimen I've been using has done wonders for my skin and get compliments on it all the time. My regimen;

-I go in the shower to allow my pores to open. At the end of the shower I use Ivory soap to wash my face
-Every other day I mix Baking Soda and water and make a paste of it. I use a cotton round to apply it to my face and use that as a scrub for my skin.
- I use a mix of Tea tree Oil and water as an astringent after either washing my face or using the Baking Soda/water scrub.
-I moisturize with Oil Of Olay complete moisturizer for Combination/Oily skin.
-Once a week (usually on the weekends) I use the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

So far this has worked really well for me.

Skin Care Regimen - Page 2 Empty Re: Skin Care Regimen

Post by Gado-Gado Gal 16th August 2010, 11:07 pm

Morning
Cleanse:
Hemp Hemp Hooray Lush Lime Cleansing Cream (winter) or Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser
(summer), mixed with a dab of honey (Manuka UMF 20 or a local raw organic variety)
Moisturize:
Hemp Hemp Hooray Skin Soothe (winter or in dry climate) or Live Live & Organic Bee Yummy Skin Food (summer or in humid climate)

Day Time
- Don't touch my face!
- Drink about 4 cups of tea a day - ginger & green tea (anti-inflammatory), detox blend (any local blend with dandelion & burdock root), or rooibos and cinnamon (skin clearing)

Night
Cleanse:
- Hemp Hemp Hooray Lush Lime Cleansing Cream (winter) or Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser
(summer), always mixed with a dab of honey (medicinal or raw honey)
- a couple of times a week I add a teaspoon of rice flour, baking soda or turmeric to exfoliate
Moisturize:
- Hemp Hemp Hooray Skin Soothe (winter) or Live Live & Organic Bee Yummy Skin Food (summer)
- a couple of times a week, organic aloe vera gel as nighttime under-eye moisturizer (winter)

Occasional Treatments
Mask:
Every couple of weeks I make a simple mask with a monofloral, medicinal honey (manuka UMF 20 or higher or ulmo), and let it sit as long as possible on my face before my evening routine. Thanks to Muz for this tip!
Spot Treatments:
I'll apply one or more of the following before bedtime and cover with a bandage, depending on the state of the blemish:
- a paste of slippery elm bark powder and water (to reduce inflammation)
- medicinal or raw honey (to draw out and kill bacteria)
- aloe vera gel (to promote healing)
- lemon juice (to reduce hyper pigmentation)

Other Information
- I make sure any hair products I try don't have things that will give me a rash (irritating) or pimples (comedogenic) by checking the ingredients against the list here: http://www.zerozits.com/Articles/acnedetect.htm I've previously posted about this here.
- Because in my experience the more synthetic ingredients there are, the more likely I am to get a rash. I check for toxicity ratings here: Cosmetics Database.

I've one. It's simple for my face and i does never gets acne, the times i get a little bit is when i've worn to much makeup or done to much. I can get acne of using a cleaningser, so i keep it very simple.
Once at week i scrub my body, and take a bath in milk, honey and olive oil.
Everyday i rinse it morning and evening, and use lavendel/rose water as a freshner. And the only makeup i use is lipgloss or lipbutter and a water proof mascare. Smile

Day and night skin care program is a best practice, no one can have. Even if you use top acne fighting creams, acne killer gel, skin clearing lotion, you will not get their best interests, should not be used, and on a regular basis. The best products to fight acne skin care is of no use program. As a matter of fact, the skin care program is one of the basic essentials to achieve a smooth and clear skin.

I definitely need to get together a better skin care regimen! I've been using Aveeno for the longest, but it doesn't seem to be working for me anymore, as I have been having breakouts lately! Has anyone tried the AMBI skincare product line??? I'm thinking of trying that out next! Which ever products I use next, I'm going to get everything so I can nail down a good regimen and get my skin to look its best! I'll be watching this thread so I can get some good tips from you ladies!

Post by FemmeFox 17th January 2011, 6:43 pm

My current regimen is:

Day
Wash with Alba Botanica Pineapple Enzyme Facial Cleanser
Exfoliate as needed with Alba Botanica Pineapple Enzyme Facial Scrub
Tone with Alba Botanica Hibiscus Facial Toner
Moisturize with Alba Botanica Aloe & Green Tea Oil Free Moisturizer

Night (assuming I remember)
Wash with Pineapple Enzyme Cleanser
Tone with Hibiscus Toner
Moisturize with mixture of Grapeseed and Watermelon seed oil

I have mainly clear combination/oily skin. I don't get many breakouts besides hormonal ones. I am really concentrating on fading dark marks from old scars. I tend to breakout more around my hairline and my sideburns if I've had them waxed. For breakouts I use the Hibiscus toner with a few drops of tea tree oil added to the cotton ball.

Many women forget this very important point in the process of cleaning the face. Toner not only cleans all traces of your remaining facial cleanser, but also clean and polish your skin and closes your pores after being opened by hot water and soap.

Facial skin cleansing is one of the most vital of your beauty regimen for skin care due to the continuous cleaning restores the skin tissue to its natural state, including the vitality of your pores. Note that a cleaning product does not remain in the face for long. Then, apply the cleaner to remove completely. The best cleaning products for cleaning organic skin care that removes without leaving anything on your face after your cleansing routine.

Achieving a healthy glow is easier than you probably realize. A growing body of research indicates that healthy eating, combined with a daily multivitamin, can have positive health benefits that in turn can improve how your skin actually looks.

I experience breakouts, hyperpigmentation and am sensitive to ingredients, so the products I use must be natural and gentle.

I use the Caudalie brand (they are by far the best) although it is VERY pricey, once I am all out of this batch I plan to go to Whole Foods and find a cheaper alternative.

I don't have a set schedule, but I just use what I need at the time.

Morning
Wash with Caudalie Gentle Cleanser and Caudalie Buffing Cream
Apply Lemon Peel Bioferment
Apply Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum
Apply Caudalie Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Cream SPF15
If I am wearing wearing makeup then I apply it here

Night (I'm slacking, but this is what I do)
If I am wearing make-up I remove it with Make-up Remover Cloths
Wash with Caudalie Gentle Cleanser
Apply Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum
Apply Caudalie Vinoperfect Night Correcting Cream

Treatments
1-2 Steam Facials per week
1-2 Caudalie Radiance Revealing Masks
Every now and then Bentonite Clay Treatment
