how do you know when your hair is protein sensitive?
I'm still "learning" what my hair needs and for the most part I do twist out and seal ends with oil. I don't cowash my hair until the end of the week. I have breakage and I'm not sure whether it comes from too much moisture or protein!

This question came up at the last LA Meet Up and I still don't know the answer.

Typically hair that has too much protein is brittle and breaks easily. You can test shed strands. Wet the strands and pull them. If they break quickly, you may have too much protein.
Hair with too much moisture is usually limp. If you wet the strands, pull them and they stretch and do not bounce, curl back, you may have too much moisture.
Finding the right balance is not easy. You have to learn your hair and that takes time. Even once you learn it, it may change.
