Re: 3 Years Newly Natural
You have a nice length. Maybe you should try some 2strand twists.

Re: 3 Years Newly Natural
So I haven't done an update in a while but after I get home tomorrow I plan to deep condition with Curls Curl Ecstasy Hair Tea Conditioner. I'm really excited about it even though I haven't really been out much to need the washing. I'll probably just co-wash cause I can always use the extra moisture. I did get to try Yes to Cucumbers and it has great slip. I'm still on the same style thus far but hopefully i'll get it mastered and I can move on to something else. That's all for now.

Re: 3 Years Newly Natural
Just wanted to get in an update on my hair trial and error and it's mostly been pretty successful. Here's a picture of my first set of twists. I used UFD's Extra Butter and I think this product is a definite keeper.
So about Yes to Cucumbers, slip is good and all but I experienced a strange itching/tingling sensation after using it the last time. Has anyone else had this? I think it's going on the shelf for a while.
Last week I tried a bantu knot out which basically became a curly fro, but I liked it a lot.
Then before my twists I did a modified version of a WNG with a free sample of Curls Gel's'c(sp?) and I really like that, as did my mother. LOL
All in all things are going pretty well. The next step will be a trim because the ends are getting a little scary. I'm thinking about trying Natural Resources Salon because I've heard some great things about it, so we'll see how that goes.

You look very pretty in each of those styles!
Be sure to post your results at the salon. Some folks love salon trims. Others hate 'em.

@priceless I really like getting double takes from people who have known me for years. It's cool to have a new style just about every day.
@nattyblog I'm really hoping I can get a nice trim/cut cause I'm way too scared to put scissors to my own head.

Hi Cnicoles
So is the left side longer than the right? Or is that how it looks because of your different curl textures. You can always twist and wear your hair pinned up. There are a lot of updo protective styles you can try as you are trying to learn your hair. Check Tia's thread, or Chrs...they both do a lot of cute updo's.

You're getting the hang of it! It looks so wonderful! Even I did a double take and I've known you forever. I really like the bantu knot out, and your twists were really cute. Impressive Miss Ma'am. Impressive!

Re: 3 Years Newly Natural
@ krazy coils Thanks a lot. That's probably the one I was most self conscious about.
@kinkynappyhappy My hair is actually all but straight on the left side and it's longer. I do need to learn some up-do's. I'm worried that all the twisting and pulling on the left side will make my edges even thinner.
@whitney b Thank you!! It means a lot coming from you.

Re: 3 Years Newly Natural
So I washed and redid my twists today and they feel so hard. I'm seriously considering rewashing tomorrow but I hate to throw all that time away. UH!

Re: 3 Years Newly Natural
I'll take a picture tomorrow cause I already wrapped up my hair. They did soften up quite a bit after I slept on them, but they are bigger than last time. I like the first ones better than these but I'm not completely sure what I did differently other than washing the first time and co-washing this time. And last time I had Curls-gel-les'c under the extra butter. This could take a while to figure out.

Re: 3 Years Newly Natural
Ok so after a couple days I'm getting used to them. They look pretty much the same in the picture. One question that I have is how do you keep them from unraveling in the high friction area like the nape of the neck?
Oh and here are the pictures! LOL (What are the odds I would have the same flower in my hair? Pretty good I guess. )

Re: 3 Years Newly Natural
Ooooohhhh you look so glamorous! I like that on you! Did you ever get them to soften up for you while they were still twisted? I always liked to just use a creamy leave-in over some moisturizing spritz if mine ever felt hard.
Re: 3 Years Newly Natural
Thank you ladies! It's a work in progress but hopefully I can get it down to a science. After I slept on the twists they did get quite a bit softer, but I think part of is it was that the twists were a bit bigger. I like them bigger so I've got some more tests to run lol.

Re: 3 Years Newly Natural
So i've been feeling rather crative this week and a little bored with my hair (which is ridiculous cause it's barley been three months), so I tried what I'm calling a twistcross. (Mostly to keep the pictures organized. I wore it to work for the first time and I think the best complement i got all day was, "YOU did that? I would get so confused." Granted it was a boy but still. LOL All I did was divide my into five sections across then two twists in the back, one flat twist in the front, four twists in the three middle sections with flat twists on the edges. I hope that's not as confusing as I think it is. LOL
