Hey Curlies!

I gave some thought to joining this thread! I kinda wish I participated in the BnB challenge, but I felt like I had nothing to really contribute, so I just sat back and read a lot of posts and learned A LOT about all things hair! So, I guess as nice as it to receive, it's even better to give so here I am! I've been doc'ing my journey on my fotki page. I have 10 months worth right now!

A little about me...

I was a short term transitioner, because I had no patience to deal with two textures. I transitioned 2x before and failed miserably out of fear and anxiety about how I'd look with short hair. My last relaxer was March 2009. I big chopped on June 13, 2009! I was barely three months out my relaxer before I went for it. I'm soooo glad I went for it, because I have seen my hair progress in each and every stage and I fall more and more in love with my natural hair. Here I am almost 11 months later, and my hair has been very good to me.

I keep my regimen very simple. I mix alot of the products I use on my hair, however, I'll get a PJ bug every once in a while. My texture is tight and coily around my edges (ear to ear), and loose on top, back and nape. Don't really know what to classify it, I just know it's beautiful in it's own way. I have to shampoo my hair...I really don't follow the CurlyGirl method. I'm not afraid of cones, and I just use what works for my hair. However, I'm trying more all-natural products and I'm getting similar results, if not better.

My favorite style is a funky twistout. I like to twist small and then wear it big and all over the place. At night, I'll plat my hair down to perserve the style. I'm still learning how to style my hair and try different looks. I'm proud to say that I haven't been to the salon since my big chop. I'm a do-it-yourselfer. I don't really have any hair goals, lengthwise. I just want manageable, healthy, luscious, natural hair! If it gets to a length that I can't handle, then I'll keep it at a length I can.

So there you have it in a nutshell! Right now, my hair is in a twistout and pinned on one side. Here is how it looked yesterday!


This me and one of my besties, Kimee. She and I went natural together. She transitioned alot longer than I did.

i must say that even though you didn't have a thread, i looked at your Fotki (months ago) and thought, "you were my hair idol!!!"..I'm soooooooo glad you joined the CSJ!!!!

Curls galore- I love your hair. The one pic that made me smile, was the one that 3 of yall were in it (You have it over on the twist challenge). You and the other girl on the end- were giving the one in the middle the "CHURCH HUG" Bootays tooted out! lol

Good morning, Curlies!

Its a beautiful Monday morning in the D! Today my hair is in a free form, chunky, suuuper curly fro! I'll post pics later this evening. I'm trying stretch my TO a few more days before I wash again. I simply re-twisted my hair in large plats and slept in my satin bonnet. In the morning, I dabbed a little Bee Mine Curly Hair Butter on each twist and unraveled them.

I may not rewash until Wednesday or Thursday. So no big news today, but stay tuned for pics.

Oh, but one thing I did notice are my ends are shedding a little bit, but nothing alarming. I'm not sure if it from keeping the twists in for several days. I may wear it out and limit my twist to 3 days max rather than 5 days and continue to seal with castor oil. That's all for now! Smooches!
