Hi ladies and GENT,
I am new to Curlynikki but I am so glad I joined. I have learned so much over the past week its crazy. Curlynikki.com is GODSENT! My hair is about 3 inchs...2 on the sides and nape area. I am hearing alot about protective styles. Exactly what is the purpose of the protective style and do you guys have any suggestions for my short hair?

WELCOME!!

ok so pretty much a protective style is a style that protects the ends of your hair..so styles like braids, twist, and buns are known as protective styles (ps) because the ends are not exposed..

now protective styling on short hair can be a lil tricky because twist have a mind of their own when your hair is shorter

trust me i know

soo to style your twist you could pin them up in a cute pin up style or your could cover your twist with a hat or beanie until your ready to wear a twist out..or get some braids in..I just installed yarn braids (about a week ago) and plan on leaving them in for 6 weeks as a ps..

Ok I will try to pin them up. Do you suggest me doing my twist dry or wet. Im not sure which is better for my hair but they look so much better when I do them wet.

Protective styles not only help protect your ends but when you hair is in a protective style (braids, twist, buns, pin up dos with ends tucked), your hair hold moisture better.

Moisturized hair = no breakage (when hair is handled carefully) = retain length

You can also do finger coils as a protective style on a twa. There are some vids for finger coil styles on youtube.
