Zits are attacking my chin :-/
Anyone else experience chin breakouts? I'm curious to get ideas of products you guys use to treat. I use a combination of Noxema, Aveno clear complexion cream cleanser, and Salicylic acid spot treatment from Clinique. But I'm looking for ideas from other tried and true methods. Thanks ladies!

When I have acne breakouts I always breakout in my chin area. I use the oil cleansing method (OCM) to cleanse my skin and this helps with my breakouts. I also use tea tree oil for spot treatment.

yeah the oil cleansing method works really well for me too. and i get seroius acne of my chin and cheeks if i try to do something else besides the ocm, usually the ocm clears my skin in about four days. @ krazy coils, what oils do you use?

@CurlyLizzy - I use Castor Oil and Sunflower Oil. EVOO was too heavy for my skin so I like the Sunflower Oil better.

I'm also having major acne breakouts, but what is the oil cleansing method?

@Naturalsincebirth - I bumped up the thread that has a lot of info about the oil cleansing method. Basically its a way to cleanse your skin in a more natural way. A lot of cleansers on the market have a lot of ingredients which irritate your skin and strip it of its natural oils and cause you to break out even more.

I've been alternating between a salicylic gel cleanser and an apricot scrub for exfoliation. I follow that with a Noxema's salicylic treatment pads and also use a prescriptive combo of clindamyacin and benzoyl peroxide. My derm informed me that breakouts near the jaw and chin area are hormonal. Have you ever noticed around that time that you get a painful zit?
At night I use the gel cleanser and either tone with LUSH"s tea tree water or follow with my presciptive retinoid or glycolic solution. I also spot treat with Proactiv's sulfur mask.

Bump! Oh my gosh, I'm experiencing the same thing! I don't know, but it's like the older I get, the more my chin wants to flare up. I get at least two breakouts on my chin area (around that time), but since doing the OCM, I've been controlling them more. After doing some research on the chin breakouts, I did read it's horomonal.
I do spot treatments daily and it's working pretty well. I use a mix of aloe vera gel and tea tree after cleaning my face throughly. A commercial product I'm using is Clean & Clear brand acne medication. That helps, too.

IM AN OIL CLEANSER TOO. BUT I ALTERNATE BETWEEN MY OIL CLEANSE ( CASTOR EVOO) AND DESSERT ESSENCE TEA TREE CLEANSER. I PURCHASE THAT FROM TRADER JOE IT LAST FOREVER CAUSE YOU ONLY NEED ONE PUMP AT A TIME. WHEN I USE THE TEE TREE I MOISTURIZE WITH A TINY BIT OF EVOO MIXED WITH SESAME OIL. SINCE I STARTED THE OIL CLEANSING EVERY OTHER DAY MY SKIN IS BEHAVING A LIL BETTER. NOT EXPECTING PERFECTION BUT MUCH LESS ARRUPTIONS. (EXCEPT FOR THE STOP EATING CHOCOLATE PIMPLE AND THE HEY YOUR PERIODS IS COMING PIMPLE )
OH @ FUNKYHAIR CHIC... IM FEELING THE DOO, VERY NICE

i alternate between OCM (Castor, EVOO + vitamin E, tea tree) and the shea moisture hair line offers a body soap bar at target ($4) and I use that as well. there is a regular formula and one for exzema, acne prone, and problem skin (i use this one). Both methods work wonderfully for me and I seal my skin just like i would my hair (light moisturizer then light layer of oil to seal) and its made a huge difference in retaining moisture and preventing and clearing up breakouts.

Thanks for the tips ladies! I was unaware of the OCM before this post. I must admit, using oils to cleanse an already oily area makes me a little nervous.
My chin was flaring up every week for a month with a new pimple but it seems to have calmed down a bit now. I didn't even have this problem when I was going through puberty! I ended up reverting back to what I used as a teenager-- the Neutrogena cleansing bar. My skin seems ok for now but the OCM has definitely sparked my interest.
