DRY SKIN!!!!!!! HELP PLEASE!!!

some questions before i can give a good answer...

are you showering, washing your face with HOT water?

do you normally have dry skin or is this just because of the weather?

WHEN are your moisturizing? just randomly throughout the day or right after washing your face?

And how often are you washing your face?

My skin is going through some changes too. I normally experience dry spells every time the season changes. But lately I've noticed dry patches between my eyes. I always wash my face in tepid water, and that's usually when I wake up and before bedtime. And then I follow with a moisturizer. The problem with me is my skin gets used to whatever I use, then I have to look for something new.

Hey PrettyVee. Ok, I usually don't shower with hot water cuz I can't handle it that hot. My husband always says my skin is too sensitive!! LOL I ESPECIALLY don't wash my face with hot water cuz that would just hurt!!!
My skin is never this dry, I think it is just because of the weather.
And (this is bad, don't shoot me!!) I honestly don't normally moisturize my face, especially in the summer cuz of the humidity. It's just something I never made a part of my regimen. My skin (usually like my forehead and chin are oily. But since THIS dryness I moisturized after my shower and in the middle of the day. I only wash my face once a day, in the shower.

Ok sounds like you're taking great measures to stay moisturized. If your skin is feeling taut, then you may want to invest in a humidifier next time you get some dough. There are cheep ones for like $20 but there's the hassle of having to buy filters with the cheaper ones. Since the heat in the house is very dry, that will help keep the air from being dry and drying you out.

If it just peeling, it MAY be something you're using that's causing the flakiness. Did you change up anything? Are you exfoliating as well? And hopefully you're not using soap to wash your face because that can be drying as well.

Also, just as a warning--which it doesnt sound like you're overcleansing because you're only washing your face once a day--but overcleansing will cause your skin to flake and peel in those exact same areas.

And as much as folks are against vaseline, it really helps to seal that moisture in and if you're low on cash, it would benefit you both ways. After you've washed your face and applied your usual moisturizer, also add a thin layer of vaseline over that on your face to keep all that moisture seal in. It won't clog your pores anything.

Hope this helps at least a little. Its harder to keep skin moisturizing in the winter especially when its dry and windy/

Hey Vee. The only thing that is different is that I used some Jojoba oil on my face (I can't remember what day). But I don't think that would dry me out since it's oil and I used it on the rest of my body and no reactions. I think it's just te dry air/cold. Thanks for your info. I may have to give the vaseline a try---I know it had done wonders for me feet before!! LOL

I bought some aloe vera gel from Trader Joes last night and tried that and then also put sme shea butter on it. I didn't wash my face last night, just rinsed it. It's just weird how this was literally like an over night thing!!!!

To combat dry skin use a skin moisturizer, but for best results, not just cream smeared all over your body dry. Start by soaking in a bath of warm water for 15 minutes. This will hydrate your skin cells. Now, almost gently pat dry, then smooth moisturizer. The purpose of a moisturizer is not to add oil to dry itchy skin, but to trap moisture after it is already there. The moisturizer can be any cream or oil seal water in the dry itchy skin that can become dehydrated easily.
