2 ozs. room temperature unrefined Shea Butter
1 oz. melted 100% Natural Cocoa Butter
½ cup of Worlds of Curls Curl Activator gel (omit in Curly Buttercreme recipe)
1 Tbs. Raw Honey
1 Tbs. Cornstarch
2 Tbs. of Unrefined Coconut oil
½ Tbs. EVOO
1 Tbs. Safflower oil (contains Vitamin E)
½ Tbs. Avocado oil
*Note: You are free to choose your own oil types. Just be mindful of the quantity of oil so as not to create a super greasy product. The oils should only compliment the butters.
1 Heaping Tbs. Aloe Vera Gel
¾ cup Alcohol free Maximum Hold Styling gel (Use only in Curly Buttercreme recipe)
Electric hand mixer
Rubber spatula
Empty container(s) with sealable lid

Instructions:
Daily Moisturizing Shea Soufflè

In a non-metal bowl add Shea butter, Cocoa butter, honey, all oils, cornstarch, and Aloe Vera gel. Use electric mixer to mix ingredients for 8-10 minutes minimum to achieve a whipped crème consistency. Add curl activator gel to mixture and mix for an additional 1-2 minutes. Use spatula to transfer mixture to container and seal. Store mixture in refrigerator for at least 2 hours (overnight for best results) or until solid and creamy. Apply and style as desired. Makes approximately 10 ozs. of product.

Have you ever used the curly buttercreme for a twist out? If so, does it give good hold and definition? Also what kind of aloe vera gel do you use? I'm very interested in giving this one a try...

Yes! That is what I formulated the "Curly Buttercreme" recipe for, my twistouts. It gives a good, non-crunchy hold that is shiny and durable. I get 3 day wear without having to fully retwist. The activator gel balances the butters and oils keeping it extremely moisturized, I love it! If you mix up some and try it for a style let me know how you like it. You may have to tweak it to fit your hair's personal needs but this is some good product! Smile

Addendum: I use GNC's "Natural Brand" Aloe Vera Gel. Another good brand to use is "Lily of the Desert."

Oh that's good to know GNC carries it. The only kind I have seen is the drug store kind that's not natural. is the GNC kind natural?

No I do not melt the Shea I pretty much use it at room temperature. If it is cold, I let it sit out on the counter for an hour or so to soften it. You know like when you are baking and you let butter get to room temperature before incorporating it into a batter. I didn't like the results of my mixture when I melted both the Shea and Cocoa butter. And as far as measuring goes, I have a food scale that I purchased from the Dollar store that I used in the past to weigh my meat portions for meals. Most people eyeball their recipes though, I like to measure so that I can ensure the product is consistent each time I prepare it.

I've been wanting to do a mix similar to this for the longest, since I already use both products. But I think I'll add some olive oil and maybe honey and aloe vera juice. But with the aloe vera juice I might need a preservative.
