homemade hair products Empty homemade hair products

I know that there are a lot of PJ's out there, but I'm a mix between being a PJ and making my own products. Right now I'm big on making my own products since its cheaper and you have more control over what goes on your scalp (and more fun). I know there are some vids on here giving recipes, but I would love to see a section devoted to making homemade products/treatments. Not just vids but text as well.

Am I the only one?

Am I missing it and there is one hiding somewhere on the site??

I'd love to see this too, especially because some of the very popular product lines (Bee mine, AfroVeda, etc) contain simple ingredients that we all could just mix ourselves!

Also, for those who do make their own products, where do you get the "raw ingredients"?

I know a lot of raw ingredients are ordered online, but you have to be very careful with that since you don't know what you're truly ordering until you get it! But it helps to have someone refer you. The other option is to go local and find parts of town where they sell natural (not just hair) products. Be it a farmers market, indian markets, african markets, things of that nature. In houston there's what's called the ghandi district where there's nothing but indian merchants. INVALUABLE RESOURCE!! The people practice the same way of life as they would in their native lands so they can tell you all about what to buy and give in depth information regarding products and/or ingredients!

Raw ingredients also don't contain preservatives so you have to do your research on shelf life and storage suggestions. I would love to see these kinds of conversations in a larger topic easily accessable! We rely on man made products too much sometimes when simple/basic is sometimes all we need!

HTH!! Sorry for the semi-rant lol

The genius part about it, is that most naturals already have the ingredients needed. but hmm should we message her about it? confused

right! and the best part is that you dont have to wonder if the products are safe for your hair or not! simply trial & error for what works for your hair!

never considered messaging her...hmmm maybe we should! (im kinda scared lol)
