Well it's official....I'm 100% Natural SweeTea2011 617583

I BC'd yesterday and couldn't be happier with my decision. I decided to transition back in Oct. and have been looking forward ever since. I have to say that the best thing that could have happened to me during my transition was finding this site. I'm not all that confident in saying that I would have stuck it out without the inspiration from the beautiful curly women that I've had the pleasure of talking to and reading about on this site. Well here are a few pics of my journey so far.....oh check out the weight loss too....I'm down 30lbs from those 1st pics...straight diet and exercise SweeTea2011 678474

Thank ya ma'am!....well my weight loss really boils down to cooking at home (my bf and I have been following the south beach diet) and going to the gym. I've always had a hard time sticking to a workout routine, but it's getting there. We recently purchased a stationary bike....I like it so far because I can just hop on it and get a good work out in while watching tv but the seat is soooo uncomfortable. I would definitely have to say though that most of my weight loss has come from the change in my eating habits...I eat 5x a day which has definitely cut out the overeating at dinner, and I guess my taste buds have matured because now I actually like to eat my veggies SweeTea2011 Icon_biggrin

thats pretty good! chrs has lost alot of weight too and she has an exercise reggie throughout the week. the eating 5x's is hard for me cuz i cant eat when im not hungry, if i force myself then i cant enjoy the taste. i guess i can learn to substitute some meals servings for veggies n fruits but then that'll make it snacks right?

thats good u got a good support team wit ur hubby (i'll say hubby n claim it now SweeTea2011 Icon_wink )

@nubie...lol thanks for claiming it girl...we've been together for 5yrs now and it's come up quit often these past couple of months...idk but I think he's waiting on me to graduate. Eating 5x isn't as hard as it sounds...it really boils down to breakfast, lunch, and dinner....then throw in 2 snacks....sticking with this technique has really helped me control my hunger. I know that in the past I could go all day long without eating but then when I finally sat down to eat I was ready to eat up any and everything that I could get my hands on

@sweet....thank you so much! It's sad that I get more support from you ladies than from my own family...but hey...it is what it is. Love your pic btw....AND we share a special day...you BC'd on my bday SweeTea2011 Icon_biggrin

Congratulations again and welcome to the curl street journal!!! Yay for weightloss. I've lost about 20 lbs since I started my natural hair journey. I exercise 4x a week for about an hour. I've been at it over a year now and plan to keep it up until.....

Thanks for the congrats ladies!!!

@KNH...I plan on making it to the meet up...I had a really good time at the last one. The only one in my family that is still tripping is my aunt...my mom and granny didn't want me to cut it but once I did they were supportive and said that they liked it. I really don't understand what the problem with my aunt is but I love my hair so I'm not letting her bother me. She sent me a text telling me that I was out my mind and to send her a pic so that she could see how I've F'd my hair up....I was like seriously....who the crap says anything like that?

Well today was my 1st day on campus after my BC. I got a ton of compliments SweeTea2011 Icon_biggrin.

Rant.....It's ridiculous that every semester I spend $600+ on books but when it comes time to sell them back i only get an average of $100....wtf SweeTea2011 Icon_evil

dag sweet, fam doesnt understand and i've learned to pay em no mind. its just funny to me how folks can be so negative but never funded me salon trips! SweeTea2011 Icon_scratch these ladies have definitely kept my confidence up cuz i truly be in my own little world and could care less about lil erykah badu jokes! gimme me a window seat dmn it...ill take that.

whats REALLY funny is...it was raining when i picked mason up from his brothers soccer practice and all u seen was women scramblin n fleein like roaches. im steady walkin like...doo doo doo, la la la and this lady is like...whew, i gotta go, i just got a perm! im like woooow, the luxury of naturalness cuz that used to be me. i havent used an umbrella in 8 months (unless its dmn near a tsunami). the mere thought of the smell of a wet perm makes me cringe! EEEEK!!

i just WISH i'd of found this kinda support a few years ago when i first attempted cuz i had no clue.

SweeTea2011 Suspect @ your aunt!!! That's wild!! Just watch....when you hair starts to grow out and you are rockin all the different natural styles, then she will probably be the main one asking you how to transition.

Thanks for the support ladies! Nubie I know what you mean about the water...I haven't gone out in the rain without an umbrella yet, but my shower routine has definitely changed. I don't necessarily wet my hair every morning but, unlike in the past, I don't cover it up and avoid standing directly under the shower any more SweeTea2011 Icon_smile

I have some good news to share....my lil sis called me the other day and told me that she wanted to start transitioning SweeTea2011 Icon_biggrin. I'm going home tomorrow to visit for a few days....I have her a nice little starter kit for her.

OMG....I'm sooooo tired. This 8-5 is kicking my butt. NEWho...on to the hair news. Well this past weekend was my 1st time home since the BC. My grandmother stared at me for about an hr straight...my aunt still can't understand why I would cut all of my hair off.....My sis loves it....didn't get to see my mom b/c she's out of town SweeTea2011 Icon_sad. While I was home I went to my BFF's party...she loved it....of course I got the jokes from some of the people there but for the most part I got a lot of compliments on my new look.

As some of you may or may not know, I was seriously debating buying a wig for work and only wearing my hair out on the weekend....weeeeelllll I DIDN'T DO IT.... SweeTea2011 Icon_biggrin. Today was my 2nd day at work and I've been rockin my puff very proudly. We were in court this morning and I saw another natural head....couldn't do anything but smile
