affordable - Affordable moisturizers Empty Affordable moisturizers

Post by hayylee 23rd October 2009, 5:34 pm

I'm a college student, and with the cooler weather being here I am in need of a affordable moisturizer. I normally just load conditioner onto my hair and then seal with shea butter, but I notice my hair not being a moisturized as it usually is when the weather isn't as dry outside.

hmmmm...Shea Moisture Shea Butter Leave-in (from treasured locks, beauty of new york, or local BSS), and Amla and Olive Heavy Cream from Qhemets. I can't really think of any cheapy drugstore moisturizers...maybe i need to try some so I can report back!

try Giovanni Direct leave-in conditioner. A little goes a long way. Then apply a little oil over it.

giovanni diretc leave-in, EO French Lavender Everyday weightless moisture conditioner, Qhemet biologics Amla & Olive Heavy Cream(THE BEST) or the Qhemet Burdock root butter cream. The qhemet products may seem pricey but they will last you forever so its worth every penny.

ITA with Qhemet being pricey (and shipping being an issue), but they last forever and a day! I think I may revisit Giovanni...I hear so much about it, but my experiences with it weren't stellar.

hey nikki, i felt the same way about the giovanni but i notice that when i mix it with water in a spray bottle it works better for me. Its not my favorite moisturizer but its one of the better ones out their considering the ingredients, price, and availability in my opinion.

Like NappyQualia says... I also use Cantu Shea Butter on occasions. My mom is relaxed and she loves that too!!--I always use Aussie Moist Conditioner and Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner...I usually mix those up with Coconut oil and Olive oil....When my hair gets really dry...time for Castor Oil!!.. Thanks for the suggestions!!! I think I'm going to give the Giovanni a try, and considering my birthday coming up soon ask for the Qhemet as a gift.

I live by shea butter! But my hair always needs an extra punch of moisture on the regular. I use Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioner and I mix about 1/3 cup of Castor Oil into it. My hair loves this mixture because it provides so much moisture. It's pretty cheap too! Try it =)

Have you tried pre-pooing overnight with an olive oil and honey treatment. It's cheap. My hair is so moisturized regardless of what moisturizer I put on afterward.

I hear ya, I like to really soak my hair to the scalp with a conditioner and apply a good oil like coconut oil and let it marinade. Most of the time I use Vo5 but Aubrey Org. Jojoba and Aloe conditioner works well.

How do you use Giovanni as a moisturizer. I used it as a leave in it was decent (not the best not the worst) I told a friend of mine about Giovanni Direct she said she did not like it as a leave in but she liked it as a moisturizer and since I can buy it at Target I might have to try it as a moisturizer. Do you just apply it or scrunch it in to dry hair?

I dont use it to detangle since i dont think it has that much slip, i detangle with my regular conditioner then rinse and then on damp hair i apply the giovanni. I also apply it to dry hair as a moisturizer as well but I like it better when mixed with water in a spray bottle, it seems to penetrate my hair better that way. I dont scrunch it in i just apply it throughout my hair. Try using it in different ways and see what works for you. Report back if you can Smile

Giovanni Direct Leave in is great! It was my refresher moisturizer for wash n go's, but worked really well for me when refreshing my TNC just last week. I love it and $7.99 in Target or Whole Foods, you can't beat it!!

Qhemets biologics is my hg moisturizer. I love giovanni direct as a leave-in, but I still have to add a moisturizer on top of it, even when I apply to soaking wet hair and seal with coconut or castor oil.
