Deep Conditioners
Hi All, so I need some help. I don't think I've really deep conditioned since I lopped all my hair off and I'm kind of interested in trying it again so I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good one. Not sure if it matter but I am on the higher end of the hair spectrum, like thick, kinky hair, like walk out in the rain for 5 mins and my scalp will still be dry type of thickness, even after a texturizer which I had last year June. I am a college student so certain things like Miss Jessies ($17.96 for a 2 oz. sample size? UM, whut?) are out of my range right now but any and all suggestions are welcomed.
Please and thanks!

Re: Deep Conditioners
Organics hair mayonnaise has worked for me, but it has mineral oil and most naturals avoid this ingredient. I'm still on the prowl for a better DC.
Re: Deep Conditioners
Hey, thanks for replying! Yeah I've been staying away from mineral oil-type products. I'm more for anything that works but things that have mineral oil just feel strange in my hair. Thanks for your input though!

Re: Deep Conditioners
^^^ I do the same as creolebeauty..I smash an avocado, and mix it with jojoba oil, EVOO, and castor oil, and aubrey organics honey suckle rose
if you do use an avocado make sure its a ripe (soft) one because if not you will be left with lil pieces of avocado in your hair..ive dealt with that plenty of time!! lol

I use Giovanni Smooth as Silk, Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose, and Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner with Olive Oil. They are all under $10.

Re: Deep Conditioners
I know I am a newbie but I have been dcing with a mixture of HeHH or Aussie moist, real Mayo, 1 egg, and some olive oil. It works great keeping my hair healthy especially with this horrible ice/snow storm we had. Just don't use hot water with the egg or it will cook. Trust me, picking out egg pieces is no dice.
Re: Deep Conditioners
Make sure you know what your hair needs before you DC. You don't want to use protein if you're protein sensitive. And if you need protein using a moisturizing DC may not be efficient.
For moisture and cheap I like Shea Moisture Deep Conditioning Masque
For protein and not so cheap IMO Aubrey Organics GPB. You can mix it with honey and olive oil.
I also like the homemade recipes as well. I'm a fan of honey for the moisturizing benefits. Olive oil, avacado oil, and coconut oil are wonderful for moisture as well. Some don't like coconut because they say it has protein in it. I haven't had any problems with it like that.
So do your research first. Until then use your regular conditioner and add stuff to it until you can figure out what exactly it is you need.

Re: Deep Conditioners
My dc is very simple and cheap. i use one can of coconut milk, u can get it off the asian isle in walmart for about $1.50. i pour it on my hair while in the shower, squeeze and shake ouf the excess, then seal with coconut oil. Then i put on my plastic cap and turby towel for 30mins. after rinsing, my hair is super soft
Re: Deep Conditioners
Thanks SO much for all the responses.
@SisterBoyd: The main issue with my hair has usually been moisture so thank you, I'll take that into consideration.
All great suggestions I can look into. Thanks again =)

Another quick way to tell if a product is moisture focused or protein focused is if it says anything about strengthening, fortifying, or reconstructing/reconstructure then its protein-based.
All of the homemade recipes you've received are really good. I've used some form of them and I love them. I think those are the cheapest that you'll get.
Re: Deep Conditioners
Also, with the coconut milk; which my hair loves, if you don't want to waste the excess you can use it in your sulfate shampoos if you have some left. Add some (very little) water, and aloe vera and its a great fix for sulfate shampoos. Also, I like to use coconut oil in my body wash especially if it has sulfates. I add some water, aloe vera, and a tadbit of honey.
Just another suggestion for cost savings
