Re: Castor oil and edges
I want to try a small amount and see how it works for me. I can be sensitive to smells so I don't want to blow a lot of money on something I can't use.
Re: Castor oil and edges
I love JBCO. I use it all over my head, but especially my edges. I was always looking for something to improve my "baby hair"/edges because I hated how far back my hairline was...I needed my edges to be more dense. JBCO has definitely improved my edges. They look fuller, thicker, and more smoothe all at the same time!

I also use Castor oil on my whole head. I use it to twist my hair when damp after a cowash and i love it! It is actually the only product i use religiously and it has made my hair cotton ball soft. I buy big bottles and it lasts a long time. I def love Castor oil and is one thing my hair can't live without
Re: Castor oil and edges
Question: does it matter if you use regular castor off the drugstore shelf, or are there differences between this and JBCO?

Re: Castor oil and edges
Honestly i don't shop anywhere for products but health food stores or any place that sells natural and organic products/ foods. I bought mine from a health food store. Usually they have big bottles of it for like $12 and it lasts a long time! I use it on my hair damp right before i do my twists and it "sets" them. I love the results and you might too. If you try it please let me know how it works out for you. God Bless

I'm wondering the same thing. I have drugstore castor oil but I keep reading great things about JBCO! I watched a yt video of a woman doing a growth challenge and she was using CO from Walgreens and seeing great results with thickness so IDK.

Hey Ms. Queenie I purchased my JBCO at a beauty store in NY..they are all over the place there. But otherwise I co-sign on the above recommended sites if you don't mind paying shipping fees!!
@ laughlovelivelife I'm a NYer too. Where in NY? Trying to find this stuff is rough! lol
Re: Castor oil and edges
I am from NYC (Queens) also and I found JBCO at my local beauty supply store, although I have not tried it yet, I have been using "Wild Growth hair oil" that was recommended and so far I have scene some good results. I also purchased it a the bs store also.

Hey Maricopa! I was wondering about that Wild Growth hair oil. I actually have it, but i don't use it. I started off using it and then i just stopped, no reason just i forget (lol). So you do see results with it? What is the real difference between JBCO and regular Castor oil that i bought from my health food store?
Re: Castor oil and edges

Re: Castor oil and edges
I have regular Castor Oil that i got from the health foods store. Don't know what the real difference is since i have never had the JBCO, but i am going to try it when i find some! Where did you order yours from??
Re: Castor oil and edges
Paying shipping fees is a pain but JBCO seems to have a lot of positive feedback. I ordered some from here - http://www.beautyofnewyork.com/shopping/8LDI240308KH1235.htm

Re: Castor oil and edges
I ordered my JBCO from Sam's http://www.sams247.com/. I hate to buy shipping, but my order was shipped right away and I love my JBCO.
Whole Foods carries CO, which I used as well. Currently, I'm using my CO in my oil mixture for my face and leaving the JBCO for my hair. I don't know if my hair is thicker solely because of JBCO or if its because its so wonderfuly happy and healthy now

Re: Castor oil and edges
Ok so this may be a dumb question.... But what is the difference between castor oil (which I've found plenty of places) and JBCO (which seems to take a little more searching for)?
Is there a difference? Thanks for humoring me y'all lol, I'm new

Re: Castor oil and edges
Hey Asanterochelle, i am with you on that question! I hear a lot about JBCO when it comes to hair, but i know a few naturals on Youtube that use the regular. I have been using the regular and my hair is very healthy! I am curious about this other one, but i don't know where to find it locally. I am an hour 30 minutes from Atlanta and i heard there is some place there near the big chicken that sells it? Maybe you are familiar with the area?
Re: Castor oil and edges
Here is one explanation of the differences. http://www.hairliciousinc.com/2009/08/hair-question-castor-oil-vs-jamaican.html
Re: Castor oil and edges
I cant wait to try JBCO! And thanks Bevy for recommending lavender and peppermint to mask the smell. Merry Christmas!

Re: Castor oil and edges
The only catch I find with castor oil is that I break out more. I only use it for my ends to reduce split ends and reduce fuzz from undoing twists for twist outs.

I don't know if I posted this before, but this video details oils that promote hair growth. Pepperment and lavendar are included as well.

Castor oil is supposed to help with breakout. There is a thread on the oil cleaning method. What might be happening is that the castor oil could be causing blemished to come to the surface. I had the same thing happen when I first started using oils in my hair.

Maybe I will give it another try. I mean I have heard people using castor oil on there eye lashes before for growth. Do you have a link to the thread?
