Newbie products Empty Newbie products

Hi ladies

I'm about to BC on Sat morn (very excited). I've invested in a load of products and would like your feedback:

Shampoo - Soft Sheen Carson Optimum Oil Therapy
Condish - Soft Sheen (same but condish)
DC - Elasta QP DPR 11

Am a bit confused with the moisturiser/sealant front - I thought they were the same thing. I created a mixture of the following:

  • Shea Butter
  • Coconut Oil
  • Honey
  • Olive Oil
  • Lavender drops
That's supposed to be my moisturiser; do I need a sealant as well?

Also is it possible to DC without heat? I don't have a heat cap or dryer and am not sure I'm supposed to use my normal hair dryer with the DC.

Feedback much appreciated

Hi Abisco,

Your mix could serve both purposes. Shea butter is not moisturizing to all so see if you hair stays moisturized with it.

You could DC without heat. Some DC for 10 minutes or so while taking a hot shower and let the steam from the shower help the DC penetrate. You could lengthen the time you DC. For instance if the DC calls for you to DC for 15 with heat, you could DC for 45 without. I do not think there is anything wrong with getting under a hooded dryer for DC. If you do, I would suggest using a warm setting.

HTH (Hopes this helps)

Hey Abisco,

Sometimes if I dont want to sit under a dryer, I wet a dry towel, squeeze out all the water and put the towel in the microwave for about two minutes and wrap around my head, with my hair in a plastic cap.

When I dc, I just put in my treatment, put on a plastic cap, my satin cap, and go to bed for the night. I get up the next morning, rinse, moisturize, seal and style.

Thanks ladies for your suggestions. I still haven't gotten round to buying a heat cap, so will definitely be implementing your "sans heat" suggestions. I'm definitely gonna try the shower steam suggestion (as per ChrsLvsbks). Then I'll combine it with Quincie1479's microwave towel suggestion and then finish off with JackieJ205's put my satin scarf on top of the plastic cap (having removed hot towel!) and head to snooze. Awesome!

Thanks

Soft Sheen Carson products usually have large amounts of petroleum and/or mineral oil in them. Just wondering if these products have this? It probably doesn't really matter if you already know they work for you, I just wanted to throw that out there just in case.

These products do indeed have those ingredients and I have now stopped using them and replaced with Herbal Essence Hello Hyrdation and Dr Bonner's Castille Soap.

Thanks!
