If you use these conditioners, how do you use them (co-wash, rinse out or leave in)?

I have used HH as a detangler/rinse out conditioner and leave-in, and I liked it. The Hydralicious was awful for detangling my hair. I usually don't throw products away, but I tossed it in the trash after one use. I think my favorite HE conditioners are Totally Twisted and Long-Term Relationship. I've used both to detangle my hair, and as a leave-in with really good results.

i use HH to co-wash and as a leave in. i love the smell of hh and i alternate between totally twisted (which enhances my curls/waves).

I like Hydralicious more than HH. It seems to be more moisturizing. I use it as a rinse out when I use it.

I used to us HH as a cowash. I don't use it anymore cause now that my hair is thicker i use more and whenever i would rinse in the shower it felt like i had a weird film all over my body and i had to scrub it off. anybody else have this feeling?

I tried Hello Hydration for my co-wash last night for the first time and i love it! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Everything from the smell to how it makes my hair feel its awesome! I haven't had a conditioner that I loved since I stopped using motions 3 months ago when i started transitioning. im trying to find a regimen that will keep my relaxed ends until i ready to let them go so i'm happy i found this product. (i like it as a leave-in too) I think next I'll try the hyralicious.

I love.. love.. love.. the Herbel Essence Totally Twisted Conditioner [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . I use it for co-washes, for detangling = to clip my ends (every 3 months) and while co-washing.

It is solid but it melts as soon as it touches your hands. If your house is warm, it won;t stay solid for long.

I loved the totally twisted as a leave in. Most of of use conditioners as leave-ins even if the bottles say rinse. I did notice that the Herbal Essence products, because they were heavier, weighed my hair down. That was fine when my hair was shorter but now I want it as big as possible.

Post by noski 10th January 2010, 2:24 am

wow, tnx 4 ur quick response, i spent hours in stores looking for a leave-in conditioner.

i'm new to wearing my natural hair, i have been looking thru dis site.
i went out today and bought shea butter (in a purple jar & silver lid), coconut oil, jojoba oil, cantu sheabutter leave in, VO5 & HE TW conditioner and my old motions shampoo & DT.
i dont know what to do with all this stuff or how to combine them. any tips or advice will be appreciated.
my hair looks very dry and would not retain curls, i tried roller set last week, it only lasted a day, dont know what to do with my hair.

Here is something you can try. Of course, everyone is different so you may have to play around with the combination.

You can probably use the V05 as a co-wash. Then follow with the HE as a leave in (not a whole lot). Then you can apply the coconut and jojoba oil (mix a little together in a smaller bottle) and then seal the moisture in with the shea butter. You can use the cantu as a deep conditioner for now. Some people use it to twist their hair. HTH!

It would help if you post a pic of your hair and your current regimen.

@Noski- Stop purchasing more products! Don't become a PJ like some of us are. You have to give the products a chance. Additionally, what works on one person doesn't work on the other. It all depends on your texture.

Does your motions shampoo have SLS (sodium laurel sulfate) in it? You want to look at the ingredients of the products that you are purchasing as well. SLS is not good for natural hair. You also don't want products that have petroleum, parabens and cones (anything ending with cones) in them. If you use some products with cones in them make sure the cone is listed pretty far down the list.

Hey noski...sorry for the late response. I melted mine a little bit and then shook it up. It clumped back up to solid though so I just keep shaking it in the mix..it worked really well when I did my frohawk twists this weekend.

These are my staple conditioners right now. I use them as a conditioner mostly, but I also add some to my moisture spritz. If I leave in, I use a small amount and mix it with my favorite oil (jojoba or EVOO).
