30 Day Product Line Challenge: What's in Your Hair
Hey Curly Divas,
I've been buying so much stuff for my hair I am running out of space in my bathroom, literally. The shelves and baskets under the vanity are overflowing. I try so many different things that I cannot keep up. I want to TRULY know what works for my hair and what doesn't. How can I keep up with all the products and really make an assessment by using so much stuff day in and day out and constantly changing products? So, the plan is to stick with a product line a month at a time. That's right, a 30 day challenge to help with developing a solid routine/regi and staple products; understand the ingredients and product lines that work best for my hair; and get this PJ'ism under control. I'm already having angst but I'm also excited because it'll help keep me focused on understanding my hair and helping it grow healthily.
Shout out to Nubie for this great suggestion. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
So, come on ladies, are you in? If you are in, let's start Monday, April 19. Original plan was to start May 1 but why wait....there is no time like the present!
Post which product line you'll be starting with and your plan of action. Here's mine:
First product line: Oyin
My Products: Oyin Honey Hemp Condish, Frank/Greg/Juices & Berries, Burnt Sugar Pomade, Whipped Pudding, Whipped Shea, and Poo Bar
Weekly Plan:
Morning Routine
Evening Routine

Re: 30 Day Product Line Challenge: What's in Your Hair
Thanx dva for getting this started. My hair is so uberly soft and im thinking its from the cd tui set i just got from hsn plus some cd hair milk. however, i cant truly be sure becuz i use so much different products on my hair every week and like dva my stash is starting to overflow and sit on top of each other. Although, i was able to maintain my pj-ness and get it under control from the stash challenge; i still got out of hand with being so eager to try any and everything. i like to at least do a pre-review of a product for the 1st results but i always try em a good 2-3 times before i give my final review.
30 days is a great idea to start me out with. I eventually want to upgrade it to 2 months. This challenge can also be tweaked becuz sometimes my stash can be all over the place so if i dont have a complete line; i.e. poo, condish, dc, styler- u know when u gotta mix n match; i'll be sure to keep track and probably use a cheapie condish or poo (suave or HE) with whatever chosen styler for the month. does that make sense [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Product line: Carol's Daughter
My products: Tui poo, smoothie (used as condish and dc), tui oil, hair milk (leave in) and marquerites magics (styler); water n oil spritz (pooka hair nectar, almond, evoo, avocado and NO EO'S cuz i dont want to cover up the cd smell) and grease scalp w/pooka butter (when needed)
Weekly Plan: AM
-spritz w/water
-scrunch in hair milk
-touch up w/MM only if needed
PM:
-oil scalp w/tui oil OR w/pooka butter
-spritz w/water
-cover w/satin bonnet and im ready to [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I do "the works" once a week; which includes poo, cond, dc, oil and style for the week. I also try to grease my scalp every 2 days. Now i may just join the twist challenge as well which will DEFINITELY help me determine the results of this product line for my hair. Since we're gonna start on monday; i'll keep it out for the rest of this week and twist it up to kick off monday!! IM EXCITED!!!

Re: 30 Day Product Line Challenge: What's in Your Hair
Ooohh, me and Nubie using the same line *I can tell you that my hair feels good on these products too.
Product line: Carol's Daughter
My products: Tui poo, tui smoothie, tui oil, tui leave in conditioner, hair milk, khoret amen shampoo, khoret amen oil, Lisa's Hair elixir, healthy hair butter, loc butter and kizzy pomade
I plan to experiment with more styles (after graduation) but for now I will do my weekly oil pre poo with khoret amen oil, wash with khoret amen shampoo, DC with tui smoothie, use tui leave in (and giovanni vitapro) followed by Lisa's elixir and healthy hair butter to seal. Each morning, refresh with hair milk and tui leave in conditioner. I'll use the kizzy pomade and loc butter to style as needed

Re: 30 Day Product Line Challenge: What's in Your Hair
lol, i agree the poo is ok but the smoothie makes up for it. MM is creamy n moisturizing. i like it.
@erica; is there a difference in the hair butter vs MM??? i think the HB is creamy white like MM right? whats the difference in the loc butter?
FYI; i also joined the twist challenge becuz i prefer to keep it twisted up anywayz and it'll help me stay on point for THIS challenge! yes erica i know i know i know...you like to wear ur hair out!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: 30 Day Product Line Challenge: What's in Your Hair
LOL, you know Phoenix does not play. She refuses to remain twisted for days at a time (she saw you rolling your eyes at her). I haven't tried the MM so I'm not sure if there is a difference. The loc butter is a styling aid. It's not as moisturizing as the HB and has a bit more shine. Has to be used sparingly because of the higher amount of beeswax. A lot of her products have very similar ingredients, they just seem to be combined in different amounts. I'm going to try that package you got because I want to try the MM and I will need more smoothie in a little while.
Re: 30 Day Product Line Challenge: What's in Your Hair
im thinkin the MM and HB are along the same consistency cuz when i seen a pic they look the same [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . so you mainly use the loc butter for more hold?

Yeah (but I think we just hijacked the thread). Although what I realized is that the HB provides all the hold I need. I'm only using the loc butter so i don't waste it. I probably won't repurchase it.
Re: 30 Day Product Line Challenge: What's in Your Hair
**trying to smoke cigarette on plane**
i think the mm and hb are about the same becuz per her site; mm is for chemically treated or damaged hair; hb natural to dry **shrugging shoulders**
i think i may need to add some tui leave in to replace my water n oil spritz and the mimosa hair honey for more of a hold. i dont think my mm will hold my twist in for the week!

I'm in. Now if only I could decide which line I'm going to use... lol. I don't have complete stuff from each, is it ok if we combine two?

My hair has been doing so good with HEHH, and HETT, I dont want to change as of now so I am going to stay with it for a while.
Mornings:
Spritz with HETT, H2O, and EVOO then seal with coconut oil.
Co-washes
Every other night with HEHH, use it as a leave in put on satin scarf.
Nights i do not cowash Oil hair with oil (coconut, EVOO, shea butter or castor) My mixture. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
